Simple File Manager — Privacy Policy

Short version: Simple File Manager works entirely on your device. It does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data, files, or usage information to the developer or any third party. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no ads.

1. Who we are

Simple File Manager is developed by KalkiArts ("we", "us"). This policy applies to the Simple File Manager app for Meta Quest and Android (package com.kalkiarts.filemanager).

2. Data we do not collect

We do not operate any backend server for this app, and the app does not send your files, filenames, folder structure, search queries, or usage activity to us or to any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting service. There is no user account, sign-in, or profile.

3. What happens on your device

All file browsing, searching, organizing, and the optional AES-256 encrypted Vault feature operate entirely locally, using storage already on your device or headset. Nothing here leaves your device.

4. Local network features (FTP / WebDAV)

The app can optionally start an FTP or WebDAV server so you can transfer files between your device and a computer on the same local Wi-Fi network. When you turn this on:

The server only accepts connections from devices on your local network — it is not reachable over the public internet.
Access is protected by the username and password you set in the app.
The server is off by default and only runs while you have explicitly started it in the app.
No file transferred this way passes through KalkiArts' servers — the connection is directly between your device and the computer you connect from.

5. Permissions we request, and why

Permission	Purpose
Storage / manage all files	To let you browse, open, move, copy, rename, delete and organize your own files and folders.
Photos, videos, audio (media permissions)	To show thumbnails and let you browse media by category.
Network state / Wi-Fi state	To detect your local network so the FTP/WebDAV server can display a connection address.
Internet	Used only to run the local FTP/WebDAV server described above; the app makes no other network calls.

6. Children's privacy

Simple File Manager does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information at all.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change and the new version will be posted at this same address.
